About Elevé

Elevé, our practice is about rising with grace, achieving balance, and finding strength in your journey. You are not the sum of your specific thoughts or emotions; you have inherent wholeness that deserves care and recognition. Our practice is dedicated to supporting the mental health of high-achievers and successful professionals to embrace more meaning and authenticity in their lives.

JUST LIKE THE EXQUISITE BALLET TERM ...

The Story of Elevé

Elevé Therapy & Co was founded by Erica Basso, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (114828) based on a profound desire to support individuals in connecting back to their inner goodness. As a recovering perfectionist and high-achieving professional, Erica understands how self-reliance and independence have been key to your success. She honors the immense courage it takes to seek support.

Erica is passionate about practicing what she preaches (although therapy itself will never be preachy!). In addition to offering therapy, she also offers clinical supervision to pre-licensed therapists.

Today, Elevé is a modern practice consisting of a collective of therapists focused on changing the view of mental health treatment. Our team is here to normalize that seeking help is not a sign of failure or weakness, and the answer to well-being is not just about “doing more” or “trying harder.” While we each bring different strengths and experiences to our clients, we primarily draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), humanistic therapy, and concepts rooted in self-compassion.

Our therapy is never a one-size-fits-all treatment.

As a boutique practice, we opt to work with a limited number of clients to offer personalized care. You are never just a random client assigned to a specific time slot. Your therapist will take time to understand you and develop a customized plan based on your specific concerns and goals for treatment.

THE ELEVÉ DIFFERENCE

We’re therapists that do more than nod our heads.

We’re active with clients. We talk in session and provide our feedback and insights when appropriate. We offer a results-driven, non-judgmental approach to helping you meet your goals. Research shows the therapeutic relationship is one of the greatest predictors of successful treatment- we prioritize offering safe and supportive environments to all clients.

Our therapists also strive to prioritize their physical and emotional health as much as possible- you could say we walk the walk!

FAQs

Our acuity scheduling widget located here allows you to conveniently match yourself to a therapist specializing in your specific needs. You can browse through our available therapists and schedule a free consultation call directly with them. This consultation focuses on the current concerns bringing you to therapy and the goals you’d like to achieve. You will also have the opportunity to share any specific treatment preferences, including your therapist’s theoretical orientation or communication style.

If you feel stuck or unsure how to choose, our owner, Erica, can provide a personalized recommendation by thoughtfully matching you with a therapist based on your availability and preferences.

Standard individual sessions are 50 minutes unless otherwise discussed with your therapist.

All new clients are required to complete intake paperwork prior to their first session. Your therapist will review these forms in advance to consider how to best structure treatment. The first session often entails your therapist asking more specific questions about your current struggles, goals, and values. This conversation is both dynamic and collaborative, and there’s absolutely no pressure to share everything at once. We encourage clients to take things one step at a time- you may need a few sessions to start feeling comfortable in therapy, and we wholeheartedly respect your process.

Yes, of course! Wraparound treatment can be an important part of comprehensive mental health care. To comply with laws, we do require all clients sign releases of information to exchange this information. Your therapist will discuss this with you if you have specific questions.

No, therapists do not prescribe medication. However, we can provide referrals to psychiatrists if desired.

We generally recommend meeting once per week at the start of therapy to establish rapport and determine an initial treatment plan. As you begin making progress, you may transition to biweekly (every other week) sessions. If you have specific concerns about the length or frequency of therapy, you can always discuss this with your therapist.

We are in-network with Blue Shield of California, Health Net, Optum, and Aetna PPO plans. If you have another PPO plan, you may be able to access out-of-network benefits. If that’s the case, we can provide a superbill receipt, which you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.

We recommend contacting your insurance provider before starting therapy to confirm your deductible, co-pay, out-of-network benefits, or reimbursement rates. Please note that payment for sessions is required at the time of service, regardless of insurance coverage.

The decision to opt out of using insurance is personal and often influenced by several factors. It’s important to know that insurance companies generally require providers to list a mental health diagnosis for approval and reimbursement. Some clients prefer to avoid having this information listed in their medical records. Additionally, while our therapists must maintain strict confidentiality, they may need to exchange certain information with your insurance company to authorize care. This may feel intrusive to some clients. Your insurance may also mandate detailed treatment plans and progress reports. This may feel restrictive, particularly if you prefer your therapy to unfold organically without specific time constraints.

Based on which therapist you work with, private session fees range from $145-$180 for a standard 50-minute session. Payment is due at the time of the session, and we accept all major credit cards.

As part of the 2022 ‘No Surprises Act,’ a good faith estimate (GFE) provides a detailed summary of the estimated costs for healthcare treatment. You have the right to receive a GFE of what the financial charges could be for the therapeutic services offered to you. This estimate is not an official contract and does not mandate any treatment.

Online therapy has become increasingly popular in recent years, making it a valuable option for those seeking support. Telehealth is convenient, eliminating the need to commute to an office or significantly change your schedule to make your appointment. You also may feel more comfortable speaking to your provider in your own space. Finally, online therapy offers greater access to more specialized therapists. In our practice, we can treat any client residing within the state of California.

Prelicensed therapists (such as AMFTs) are currently receiving hours toward professional licensure. They hold at least a master’s degree and are in supervised practice. A licensed provider (such as LMFTs) has met all hourly requirements and passed their state board exams. Both types of therapists offer competent care and expertise, but a prelicensed therapist can’t practice without working under a trained supervisor.

Therapists are ethically and legally required to keep all client information confidential. We can’t share anything you tell us without consent. As mandated reporters, there are some exceptions to confidentiality, including disclosures of child, dependent adult, or elder abuse and acute risk of harming yourself or someone else. Furthermore, if you use insurance for treatment, you will need to authorize sharing certain types of information for coverage. If you have specific concerns about your confidentiality, you are welcome to discuss them with your therapist.

Ultimately, therapy requires your active participation. Before starting treatment, spend some time truly reflecting on your goals. Think about what has and hasn’t worked for you in the past. Try to be as honest and open as you can be with your therapist- even if it feels challenging. Remember that your therapist is fully here to support you. Aim to be consistent with showing up and doing any work between sessions. Practicing the skills you learn is important for reinforcing behavioral changes. Finally, if something isn’t working- or you didn’t like something your therapist said- let your therapist know. They care about providing you with treatment that best aligns with your needs and comfort.
